Joslyn Art Museum presents the first major museum exhibition of the works of Omaha artist Kent Bellows. While Bellows grew up in the area and made his home in the city, his reputation as a leading American figurative artist reached across the country. Independent guest curator Molly S. Hutton, Ph.D., intends for the exhibition to establish Bellows’ critical contributions to the history of realist endeavor in this country as well as shed light on a complicated and provocative artist whose sensitive intellect and creative ability produced images of great beauty, emotional depth, and humanity.
