Cindy Sherman: Impersonations | The Bruce Museum

PRESS RELEASE

Cindy Sherman: Impersonations

The Bruce Museum

Greenwich, Connecticut

Exhibition Description:

Cindy Sherman: Impersonations will be comprised of approximately 50 photographs and focus on key moments in her remarkable career. Among the most influential artists at work today, Sherman employs images of herself to explore various personae and address topical issues of the contemporary world. The show will survey her art from the early Untitled Film Series and Rear Screen Projections, through the Centerfolds, Disasters, and Fairy Tales, the History Portraits, the Women from California series, and her most recent works, the "Rich Women" series. The exhibition and its catalogue will explore her favored themes, the ways in which her photographs examine the roles of women and the artist, and suggest something of the protean, chameleon diversity of her art.
